In the entirely derivative and proud of it category (is there any other?) the Bees are pretty damned top notch. I passed off their previous LP only to have it come back on shuffle and uh, sting me. It was to the Zombies as this track from their new one is to Smokey Robinson. A pretty brilliant band, if not a surefire top ten contender.

Caribou’s Andorra has slowly grown and grown on me. It was good and all on that first listen, but damned if it hasn’t grown into a serious top contendorr for the title of Oh Seven. The percussion and multi-layered drumming augmenting those sixties-flavored melodies is pretty irresistable.

The Besnard Lakes’ Are the Dark Horse is a really haunting, textured, fine indie release. Knew from the start of the year it’d be up towards the top.

Turzi. This video’s kinda neat. Turzi’s latest, entitled simply A, is fantastic modern psych.
